Custom Landscape Boarders
Are you tired of your grass growing into your landscaped beds and growing through your nice mulch? Most people struggle with keeping grasses out of their bed lines, but they don't have to!!! :)
We offer several options for custom landscape boarders. We do not use plastic or materials bought at Home Depot or Lowes, and we will refuse the job if any of those materials are desired due to quality standards within our company. We use natural stone and Type S Mortar only..
The most affordable and most popular choice (so far) by home owners is Flagstone Cobble Stones. Flagstone cobble stones are installed slightly below grade on a base of Type S Mortar for stabality. Cobble Stones come in Tan and Grey Colors. This type of boarder is fairly low in height, and may not completley block grass from encroching into the beds, though a stick edger can easily keep the grass edged during normal maintenance. Flagstone Cobble Stone boarders average $5.40 per foot installed.
Our favorite, our clients' favorite, and the neighbors' favorite is the Flagstone Thin Stack Boarder. If you want to stand out from the crowd, this is the boarder material for you. Usually the finished height is between 6'' and 7''; taller on a downward slope around a tree, as we build our tree rings completley level. This type of boarder is built on a base of Type S mortar, and generally one or two layers of stone is below grade. We mortar all stone joints between layers and the back 2/3's of each stone for a permanent and sturdy boarder. This type of boarder will sucessfully slow down or completley eliminate the need to edge your landscape beds or treat for encroched grass species. Cap stones can either be spaced and grouted with moartar, or they can be cut into tight gaps and no mortar will show at all. Flagstone Thin Stack boarders average $16.00 per foot installed.
Field Stone Thin Stack Boarders are installed using the same techniques the the Flagstone Thin Stack Boarder, though more tonage is used, and we are not able to easily break the stones to fit. Field Stone Thin Stack Boarders average $18.00 per foot installed.
